What was the first record Pink Floyd had in the charts? Was it their first release, or did they release anything before it that flopped?
One of my favorite bands is Pink Floyd. I have discussed their early music with other Floyd fans and there seems to be some argument about what is considered their first release that made it into the charts.
I was convinced it was "See Emily Play", but I'm not so sure now.

And I quote:
"Arnold Layne" became Pink Floyd's (the definite article was dropped at some point in 1967) first single, released on 11 March 1967. It was banned by several radio stations for its references to cross-dressing, but due to some creative manipulation at the shops which supplied sales figures to the music industry, it peaked at number 20 in the UK charts
