What was the first great viral video you remember seeing online?

Do you remember the first time somebody sat you down to show you a truly epic video on the internets?

Don't feel bad if you can't remember your first, here is the earliest one I can remember, I remember seeing it on ebaums.com many years ago.

Tip for best answer: M$5.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Of course the most popular video has to be The Star Wars Kid, but it became much more then a video it became the start of a whole new media of entertainment in which we could all be a star even if we didnt want to.

This is probable one of my favorites I watched it in school with a couple of my buddys we were cracking up for hours. My buddy actually has a quote in the yearbook saying " hey look an Eagle"

This is a great example, because by definition its a viral video in that it's advertising a product.

Marc Ecko Tags Air Force One

Cheap to make, got the word out, and always mentioned in discussion groups about guerilla marketing and viral vids..

I think I also found it on ebaums.. long before youtube... The end of the video used to open a link to Ecko clothing line...

"Girl trains for Guitar Hero" was the first viral video I remember seeing. I rarely watch videos, so it was mahalo.com that introduced me to viral videos as part of the Vlogidol competition they held last year. This was a contestant that did not win, but I thought she did a good job of this video. It got almost 20,000 views on youtube.

Dotcomboy, how is this unhelpful? Are you saying this ISN'T the first viral video I remember seeing online? Cause I'm, like, 45% sure that it is!

That one needs a not safe for kids warning on it. Cause they'll run up and down the hall singing this song and drive you nuts. Thanks Lon. No really, thanks.

Okay. This isn't the *first* one that I saw - I've been on the Internet way too long to remember all the strange stuff I've seen - but this is definitely the one that made me laugh the hardest. The sad thing is that these girls are, uh, serious:

WARNING: If you don't like discussing bodily functions, you might not want to watch this one.

I didn't mark everyone's as unhelpful.

I simply have seen a lot of videos and didn't remember the ones posted that I marked 'unhelpful'

Your answer is helpful because it's a viral video that I assume was the first you remember seeing. I am interesting in knowing exactly why you marked everybody else' videos as "Unhelpful"
