What was the first commercial airliner to crash causing loss of life?

Tip for best answer: M$0.14
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

On April 7, 1922, a French airliner, designed to carry 12 passengers but fortunately only carrying three at the time, collided with an English mail and passenger plane carrying only mail at the time. Including the two crews, 7 people died. Two of the passengers were an American couple on their honeymoon.

It was thought at the time that the circumstances were so unique that such a thing would never happen again.
