What were the contributors that broke up Fleetwood Mac?
Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band. What was the major contributors that caused the band to break up? Was the love triangles to much for the band? Which members had relationships and affairs with each other? Did any of the band members have any drug issues? Are there any other disagreements or problems that could have caused the band to break up? Was there irony or a reason behind the title of the album Rumors?

It all started in 1976 with the success Fleetwood Mac, the marriage of John and Chritine McVie ended together with Buckingham and Nick's long term romance. And even Fleetwood is in the midst of divorce proceeding from his wife Jenny. In spite of this Fleetwood Mac was able to release a successful follow-up album and combined with their newfound wealth led to creative and personal tensions plus the presence of high consumptions of drugs and alcohol.
After the album Mirage, the band went into hiatus and gave way to members to pursue solo careers. Stevie Nicks was the one who became successful as a solo artist. During this period, Mick Fleetwood filed for bankruptcy while Nicks was admitted to Betty Ford Clinic for addiction problems. John McVie suffered an addiction-related seizure all attributed to the lifestyle of excess which they got from worldwide success.
They continue to produce albums, they were inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and the same year Christine McVie left the band and returned to the UK to retire from touring.
