Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I was always pretty fond of Buster Keaton movies. I don't know of any in particular that is better than another because I haven't watched them since my days of film studies back in college. I think he had a much more athletic presence, compared to Charlie Chaplin for instance who did much more slapstick.

I also like the "Phantom of the Opera" silent film with Lon Chaney. This is a really good horror film. The black and white makes it's pretty scary (for the time). I did have the chance to see this one time at a theater with live organ accompaniment. It was really cool. Black and white films have a certain appeal because they have to do more with less.

The video is the part of the movie where she pulls off his mask.

Fabliaux once again it proves we think alike, I was going to say Phantom of the Opera. The Lon Chaney version is my all time favorite silent movie. I went to the Alabama theater and watched it with the live organ playing and it was so dramatic and amazing.

Hey thanks =)
I have to admit to knowing more musicals than silent films. Silent films don't get played as much, even on TCM or AMC. One of my favorite musicals that relates to silent pictures is Singing in the Rain, since that is about the move from silent to talkie - so funny.

I love silent films, I have pestered many a friend and family member to watch some with me. Those that concede to my request thank me and make a comment about how truly entertaining and captivating they can be. They never seem to expect that.

My must see list would be:

Birth of a Nation

City Lights

Nosferatu

I was thinking about Nosferatu as well. I especially like that carriage ride scene where the director used the positive instead of the negative side of the film to make it look eerie.
