What was the best meal you've ever had?

Disregarding the company you were with or the location where you enjoyed it, please explain by describing the food alone what the best meal you've ever eaten was.
Tip for best answer: M$0.35

This is a hard question to answer. There have been many meals where the location, atmosphere and people I'm with were also a big factor in remembering the actual taste of the meal.

One meal that I enjoyed beyond measure was a simple filet of Ahi over a bead of rice.
The reason that meal was so good, has a lot to do with what happened that day.

http://www.hawaii-guide.com/index.php/kauai/spot/awaawapuhi_trail/

I was vacationing on the Island of Kauai and decided to take a day hike along the Na'pali Coast. It should have been a little over 6 miles round trip, but I got lost with my boyfriend.

The name of the trial was the Awa'awa'puhi, and it was listed as being a harder trail to take than the others.
There were large drop offs when we finally made it to the cliffs edge. Something went wrong as we headed back and we lost sight of the trail. This area gets so much rain and has such a fast growth rate that trails can disappear right before your eyes.

We started the hike early in the day, but ran out of water around 4:00 pm and also realized that we were no where close to getting back into the park or near our car. At around 4:30 pm, the rain started. It usually rains there every afternoon, but we weren't on the official trail. We had to make it back up the steep mountain by following the wild goat trails.

These trails became water slide like canals for the rain to flow through. It took hours to make it up these steep tubes. If there were no roots to hold on to... I'd slide back down a few feet.
I felt like Joan Wilder in Romancing the Stone. I kept sliding down this steep embankment, over and over.

We also didn't have a flashlight since we expected this hike to just take a few hours. We fought with four miles of nonexistent trails in the dark, but made it back by around 9:00 pm. I was covered head to toe in red clay mud. Every bone in my body ached. I looked like an Aborigine who went on a long Walkabout.

When I arrived at my five star hotel for the night I went straight to the restaurant since I knew if I went back to my room, I wouldn't have the energy to come back down again or even call for room service.

I ate that simple fish and rice place with an apatite of a bear fresh out of hibernation. I didn't care that people were looking at me, they probably thought they were looking at a golem.
That fish was so succulent and moist. It meted in my mouth. I actually passed out with my head on the table before my honey finished his meal. (I moved my plate over at least, so my face wasn't ON the plate)

That hike was the most beautiful I have ever done. All of the mistakes I made that day, really helped me appreciate the little things in life. It's funny how so quickly something can turn from a simple day hike to sudden survival skills just to make it back.

That hike humbled me and showed me just how delicate your life truly is. Life changing experiences can really alter your taste buds!

My friend Maria recently made eggplant parmigiana made with homemade sauce and both mozarella and provolone cheeses. She served it with leftover sausage and peppers, a salad, and a glass of wine.

It's was the best meal I've ever had and I can't imagine ever having one better!
