What was the actual height of the surge when Hurricane Ike hit Galveston. Where would one find that information?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

When hurricane Ike made landfall on Galveston, Texas, it was declared Category 2 hurricane with an equivalent of Category 5 Storm surge. This means that the surge measured eighteen feet (18 ft.) high or 5.6 meters.

Storm surge was 10-16 feet deep when Hurricane Ike hit Galveston on Saturday, September 23, 2008. It swamped Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula.
