What was new and different about the 2007 Prius Touring Model?
I remember reading somewhere that the touring model of the Prius that came out in 2007 was going to be new and different. This is a very vague statement and I'm not sure what to take from it. Now, three years later, I'm wondering what that crazy new thing might have been. If you've owned or driven one, what makes this model so special? What do the reviews say? Do the Prius website or owners say anything more on the subject? Was the touring model really that great?

These are the features of the 2007 Toyota Prius Touring Edition:
1. Gains standard driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags which was optional in the previous model.
2. This new model provides "more spirited driving responses" because of its European-tuned suspension and 16-inch alloy wheels.
3. It has a distinguished new wheels, a larger rear spoiler, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and integrated fog lamps.
4. fuel efficient with estimated EPA ratings of 60 mpg in city driving, 51 mpg on the highway and 55 mpg in combined driving. This seemingly "reversed" city/highway figures reflect the unique powertrain that is optimized for maximum efficiency in the kind of slow-and-go driving that urban commuters experience.
5. Has a permanent-magnetic electric drive motor that produces maximum power of kW (67 horsepower) from 1,200-1,540 RPM, and peak torque of 295 lb.-ft. from 0-1,200 RPM. This Prius model produces 110 combined horsepower with its gas engine and electric motor.
