I liked the The Manchurian Candidate and The General's Daughter, but I would have to say his finest film was Seven Days in May.
Seven Days boasts the famous confrontation scene between Burt Lancaster and Fredric March, which Frankenheimer often said was his personal favorite of all the scenes he had directed.
That scene remains on of the most taut, literate, and brilliantly directed sequences I have ever seen.

M$Burt Lancaster was a national treasure... his performance in Seven Days and The Train are amazing.
You said which is his *finest* film and I have to agree that Seven Days is the finest, while Manchurian Candidate might be the most suspenseful.
I like to think that The Train and Black Sunday are his two best kept secrets. Bruce Dern is amazing in Black Sunday.

M$I thought I'd follow up on Prophecy. The weirdest death scene that I've ever seen in a movie. No blood. No gore. Just... weird.
