Well, with Sarkozy in the office, France's foreign policy has become much more Pro-American, he has supported America's war in Afghnistan, and he has strengthened ties with NATO as well. Also, he has played a vital role in the Middle East. according to Wikipedia:
QUOTE
Sarkozy played some vital roles in Middle East affairs. On January 5, 2009, Sarkozy called for a ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip Conflict. The plan, which was jointly proposed by Sarkozy and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak envisions the continuation of the delivery of aid to Gaza and talks with Israel on border security, a key issue for Israel as it says Hamas smuggles its rockets into Gaza through the Egyptian border. Welcoming the proposal, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called for a "ceasefire that can endure and that can bring real security".
END QUOTE
Domestically, his conservative policy rendered much less government control and regulation when it comes to the economy. However, after the Financial Crisis of 2008-09, he decided that the lassiere-faire Capitalism was over under France and state intervention was necessary. He has also decided to subside 100,000 jobs. Some have described him as turning Socialist, and comparisons have been made between him and Obama.
He has also had various controversies in his presidency. Including alleged affairs.
