There are many kinds of salsa! Some salsas require cooking and others are a mix of chopped raw ingredients. Whether the salsa is cold or warm, cooked or fresh, it can almost always be served with tortilla chips, crispy taquitos, soft tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, or nachos. Enchiladas are always served with a warm, smooth, tomato and chile based salsa.
If your making a salsa using raw ingredients, such as a Pico De Gallo, all you need is tomato, jalapeño or Serano peppers, red or yellow onion, sweet corn (cooked and off the cob), cilantro, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. This is the basic recipe and there are many variations of it as well as endless possibilities to get creative with it! All you have to do is dice all of the ingredients in small pieces, add lemon juice, salt and pepper, and enjoy!
