What types of food should a toddler be eating in order to get the daily allowances of vitamins and minerals?
My grandson loves to eat dry cereal. He would eat it all day long and nothing else. I know this can't be good for him, what foods should he be made to eat in order to grow strong and healthy. Will eating an abundance of cereal cause him any harm? Should his mother be forcing him to eat a larger variety is there a fun way to [introduce new foods?

Check out the food pyramid, it tells us what to eat and the serving portion per age group.
Dry cereal is ok for toddlers but eating in excess is always not advisable as in any kind of food. You can try mixing it with milk or with the dry cereal, prepare a glass of milk or fresh fruit juice or cold cuts to go with it. It would be nice also to join him in eating the same thing so he can see that you too enjoy the food you are serving him. Slowly, introduce different kinds of food that can go with the cereal while you lessen the serving portion of the cereal he takes in. Cereal though is a good source of carbohydrate which toddlers need as it is during the stage that they consume so much energy.
My three year old son eats veggies, fish and less meat because it is what he sees from us. As early as he is, we teach him to eat whatever that is served on the dining table and do not give any other option for him to choose from. As parents, we always see to it that what is served in any particular meal is a combination of fish/meat and veggies. As much as possible we try to prepare a balanced meal. At the end of each meal a slice of fruit or a fresh fruit juice is served which is a good source of vitamins.
We do allow him to eat some of the not-so-healthy foods like chips and candies but in minimal portion.
