What types of combs and brushes are best for the hair?

Lately I am into happy healthy hair for myself and my family. I would love to hear what types of combs and brushes would be best. Are there any types of combs or brushes I should stay away from?

Round Hair brush: Round hair brushes are generally used to give a curl and definition to hairstyles. The basic rule is that the smaller the round of the brush the tighter the curl. For shorter hair, use a smaller brush and curl strategic pieces of your hair. For longer hair, round hair brushes can be used for curling the ends, or just straightening hair. A larger round hair brush is best for longer hair.

Vent Hair Brush: Created with a hole in the middle of in the base, the vent hair brush lets air pass through the brush allowing for faster blow drying. These brushes can also boost volume, and detangle your hair.

Paddle Hair brush: Great for straightening medium to long hair, a paddle hair brush smoothes as it lengthens. As opposed to the round brush, this style encourages hair to lie flat and is better for hair which is not layered too much.

Cushion Hair brush: Made for medium to long hair, cushion hair brush is a daily brush that massages the scalp and can perform the same duties as the half-round brush.

Changing your brush may ease your morning routine, or make it even faster. One thing to keep in mind is quality. Buying the cheapest brushes will only mean that they will not last very long, and may end up scratching your head. Treat your hair well, and it will love you for it!

Here's a somehow detailed answer for your hair concern.

Whichever comb and brush you use for your hair care, it is important that it is not used on wet hair. This is because when the hair is wet, the roots become soft and is easily pulled out when you roll the comb and brush. With the use of steel combs and brushes, you can maintain a more sophisticated outlook; however in the process, you are only adding to the damage of the hair.

It is always better to use some hair softener to prevent any tangles from forming after you shampoo your hair. It is better to then start brushing your hair using a comb with soft bristles where there are wide gaps in between the teeth. This is because the wider is the gap between the bristles, the easier it is to roll the comb and brush on the hair. Moreover, such combs and brushes will not get stuck in between the strands of hair and thus, a reduction in the hair being pulled, and falling out.

If you have to brush your hair when the hair is wet, it is better to brush in the reverse order. This offers two benefits where the tangles can be removed when drying the hair using a towel and also helps protect the roots of the hair. It is always better to avoid touching the roots of the hair with the comb and brush.

Different combs and brushes are suitable for different types and cuts of hair. Large brushes having a round shape with bristles in all directions is best to use with hair that is middle length and styled with layer, step or bob cut. With this brush, it is possible to set your layers of hair into perfection.

It is better to use long and large toothed hair combs for long hair. This helps you in brushing your hair while maintaining its length; in fact, you can also apply a flip style for more attraction to your hair. Hair that is cut with a mushroom cut or patch boy style, it is better to first pump your hair with a blow dryer and then use a soft bristle comb.

Well there you go, thanks for reading. Have a good day! :)

No matter which brush is best for certain styles, there’s no stopping you from having at least one of every type. Changing your brush may ease your morning routine, or make it even faster.

Hi there!

The type of brush you need really depends on the type of hair you have.

A natural brush (usually boar) is best for someone with thin or fine hair. They can glide through the hair with ease and even be healthy for the scalp producing more shine and oils.

Synthetic brushes are used for those of us with thick or unruly hair. They are armed and ready to get through course hair with ease.

Now if you will be straightening your hair, you will want a round brush. The longer the hair the larger the brush you want.

As for combs, you want a strong (non plastic comb.) If you have thick hair get a comb with wider teeth.

If you get confused you can usually head to a beauty supply there. They are usually willing to help.
