What type of wireless router is fastest, and can work furthest? i've no experience with what them, but notice some have D or F, or G types,

i'm quite inexperienced with them. .... my place is very large, so i need a good range, and i'm switching to 6mb cable internet and would like something that can handle computers and ps3 on it...and a hard-wire if necessary.

any ideas?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

WiFi with N is best. This will give the fast speed and longest range.

You can still use g, b or a. Try to get a dual band router that way you will not have to worry about other networks interfering. N Wifi routers are also backward compatible so you can still connect devices like a Nintendo DS that can only use g.

Apple has an Airport Extreme that would be good for you. I have one and it works great. You also can setup to 3 networks with this router and hookup hard drives and printers to it. Linksys, Buffalo and Netgear are good brands that are cheaper.

Most WiFi routers have a built in switch so you can connect several computers to the LAN ports (you can hard-wire it).

Hope this was helpful.

Wireless N is the fastest, but it depends on your ISP. You say that yours is 6mb/sec then paying extra for a router that supports up to 300 would almost be pointless. I have Comcast and use wireless G for my laptop, ps3, ds, psp, and 360 and have no issues. Also, I suggest you get a Linksys router.

Wireless N is the current fastest. N is supposed to be able to do 300 mega bytes per second, under optimum conditions, which is 7 times faster than G. B is slower than that. A is the slowest available. Im not even sure if A and B are readily available anymore.
