What type of tourist attractions are in Redding?

How can I participate in tourist activities? Are there any tourist coupons for Redding, California?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The City of Redding is located in Shasta County in northern California. The city lies at the base of the Cascade foothills and the surrounding region is known as the Shasta Cascades. The latter encompasses seven national forests, eight national and state parks, the Trinity Alps and the California Cascade range - including two huge glaciated volcanoes, the dormant 14,162 foot Mount Shasta and the still active 10,457 foot Lassen Peak.

The two most visited attractions in Redding are the:

• The Sundial Bridge http://www.examiner.com/rving-in-national/turtle-bay-s-sundial-bridge-redding-california

The Shasta Cascades area is spectacularly beautiful and I would recommend a visit to four attractions in the Redding area:

• The Shasta Dam – take a free 1 hour tour of the 3,460 foot long and 602 feet high dam: http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ncao/shasta/tour.html

• Lassen Volcanic National Park – hike the largest plug dome volcano in the world: http://www.nps.gov/lavo/index.htm

• The McArthur-Burney Falls State Park – visit the 129 foot Burney Falls: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=455

• Subway Cave Lava Tube – explore a 30,000 year old, 1/3 mile long lava tube: http://www.examiner.com/rving-in-national/subway-cave-lava-tube-lassen-national-forest-california

The online edition of the Redding Record Searchlight has a general coupon and local coupon section: http://www.redding.com/
