What type of piano should I buy? What should I look for when buying a new piano.

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you are going to take lessons and unsure if this is something you will keep up, I suggest you buy an electric keyboard. You can get them relatively inexpensive at Walmart or Costco. The reason I am suggesting an electric keyboard is because pianos are pricey and they require room in the house as to where a keyboard is inexpensive and you can put it away in a closet when not in use.

First take lessons at your piano teacher's home or studio and then practice on your keyboard. If you keep up the lesson and really enjoy playing the piano after six months, then consider buying a real piano.

A lot of pianos become furniture decoration because the instrument did not fit the lifestyle. Make sure yours does. Hope that helps.
