What type of music is most common for men to listen to in their thirties?

I have always known that different age groups and generations usually gravitate toward one type of music genre. What would you say would be the most likely music genre choice for a man that is in his early or mid thirties? Why do you say this, and do you have any sources? Personal opinions are fine as well!

It is my personal opinion that men in their thirties listen to popular and current rock. Really, I am basing this on the men I know, where I live. I believe the reason for this is my husband and most of our friends are in their late thirties and have teenagers or preteens and typically the teens by me are into the new and current rock. So, if their house is like mine, 13 years ago Barney was the singer we listened to most and we know every word of the "I Love You" song, and now our kids are in their room doing karaoke to Three Days Grace or Trapt. So we hear the songs over and over and soon begin to like them. That has been my experience, as well as my husbands. I am sure you may find different opinions on this question, I am just basing my answer on what I have seen and experienced.

Personally I spent a lot of my thirties listening to Country Music. I had gone through my Punk and then Alternative/Indie stages, and I was ready to slow down a bit and make and attempt at a more rounded, normal life. The fact that I spent a lot of time in rural South Carolina reinforced my choice, because back in the 1980s in rural south Carolina, you either learned to like country music or you rode in the car in silence.

Based on men I know and research I've done, I'd say whatever rock was popular when they were 18-24 years old is likely to be a good choice.

Surprisingly enough, it seems easier to find sources that divide genre preferences by age than by gender. In other words, it is easier to find out what individuals of either gender in their thirties might prefer, than it is to specify what MEN in their thirties might prefer.

See below for a couple of charts that indicate what men in their thirties might prefer. Remember though, that it is generally agreed that the music that is important to individuals during their late teens and early twenties often "imprints" and becomes their favorite music.
