What type of metal is used in expandable measuring tapes?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you mean in tape measures. A lot of newer ones are not metal at all they are a nylon weave. Older ones are plain old steal foil lamented with plastic to keep them from rusting. You can see this if you have a really old one that is scratched up it will rust. A lot of the newer ones are actually a formula of Stainless steal(Not exactly the same formula as in pots and pans. If I remember correctly it has less of the chromium in it making it less brittle and more pliable.)
