What TV series had the ideal family in television history? Why?

Tip for best answer: M$0.35
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Good Question I have to say it be "The Cosby Show" which started airing 1984. I grew up watching this show and It had a lot of good family values in it yet it was entertaining at the same time.

I think the ideal family was the Keaton family in Family Ties with Steven, Elyse, Alex, Mallory, and Jennifer Keaton. Michael J. Fox was made famous from his portrayal of Alex Keaton; he later played in numerous roles including Back to the Future.

The Keaton family loved each other very much, but still frustrated each other. The kids were great, but each had habits that annoyed the others. We could all relate to each of them, even though they had their faults.

I'm going against the grain here by saying NCIS. Yes, NCIS and let me tell you what makes the show so appealing. It's the aspect of family within the team that hooks viewers and keeps them coming back for more. Here's my breakdown:

Jethro: The stern yet understanding father
Tony: The older brother and ladies man
McGee: Naive younger brother though he's been on the show for 7 years, still a probee haha.
Abby: The cute "young" sister even though she's 40ish
Ducky: The all knowing, wise grandfather
Zeva: I'm not sure here, female version of McGee but tough? Maybe a visiting cousin or something.

The producers specifically set the show up this way and it works like a charm. You can get hooked just watching a couple episodes and it's all due to the family dynamic.

If that doesn't work for you, Malcolm in the Middle. That's every family I've ever known.

The phrase here is "in television history". "Leave it to Beaver" had a fairly sickeningly well-adjusted family, as did the Cunninghams on "Happy Days", but the all-time ideal family, that actually became a cliche for ideal families, is the real life Nelson family on ''The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet". The show ran from 1952 to 1966, and gee Wally, nobody ever told anyone to "sit on it" on the air (much too impolite). Watch a clip and see what you think. (Beware, if you have diabetes, your sugar level may spike)

The best family I remember from when I watched TV as a kid was the Cartwright family on Bonanza. They stuck together, fought bad .guys together, and were an all around great family. None of the family sitcoms had families that I could stomach for even half an hour, even as a kid.

7th Heaven.

It shows good family values despite the normalcy of the situation. What they show are common situations that a normal family goes through. Watching the tv series can help us a bit on how to deal with the situation when it comes our way.

A big plus though is their faith in the Lord in whatever things coming their way, be it good or a challenging situation.
