What tropical travel destination would you avoid?

Are there any popular places to take a vacation that you're just not interested in? Did you have a bad experience? Is the location just not interesting to you? Have things changed since the last time you were there?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd definitely avoid the tourist traps like Cancun. They're just way too crowded with college students looking to get drunk, souvenir shops looking to sell you things, hotel chains looking to rip you off, and "sightseeing" events that are really elaborate ways to make you spend money. And it's loud and too many people are around; it's just no fun. Places like Myrtle Beach are also included here. Too tacky!

The worst part of all that is that the best thing about it is something you can go elsewhere for: the beach. Any shore will do.

I think one place I would want to avoid is Mexico. I've heard very bad things about their drinking water and non-pasteurized milk items. It seems to me that there are too many things that can make you sick there. I'll just stay where it's safe, in America and Canada.
