It is *good practice* to leave an explanation as to the reasons for voting unhelpful when we have to but the explanation is *not* always offered.
It will happen once in a while where a user just disagrees with your answer or is just being malicious and trying to move your answer down the list.
It is best to ignore this.
If you must act the best course of action is to politely comment on the answer asking for an explanation of the unhelpful vote, often times with responsible users it is just a misunderstanding and further clarification will resolve the issue.
Don't let it get to you or let it detract from your experience or participation here on Mahalo answers. Just keep the spirit of Mahalo and move on.

I saw the question in question and I agree completely, however if the user will not further participate in the discussion then we have no choice but to move on.
Just keep a mental note of the user and expect similar behavior in the future.
I know it shouldn't get to me, but it is ridiculous that someone would do that.
I have an idea that would help, which is to restrict answerers from marking as unhelpful unless they have at least 1 helpful vote, this ensures only a correct, or useful answer is being pushed to the top.
