What things that are socially acceptable in Japan but are not acceptable in the U.S. will be in the near future?
One possible example is the wearing of face masks in public situations.

I actually wore face masks in Florida last week because I had the flu (not Swine) and did not want to spread it. Needless to say, I got some really crazy looks, but I lived in SE Asia for a while and this was so common that I am surprised that Americans don't do it. Apparently, face mask sales are on the rise.
I would say that another future possibility is less restrictions on casual nudity (like in anime or silly Japanese shows). It is always strange to me that kids cartoons in Japan may feature breasts, but their pornography is censored, which is the opposite of here.
Maybe another part of Japanese life that may migrate is being more responsible, especially considering time and being prompt. Since unemployment is rising, perhaps people will try to be competitive. At my job, for instance, the majority of the people come in "late," if at all. This would not go down well in Japan.
Another thing that is increasingly available in the States is unadulterated Japanese-designed games and cartoons, complete with weirdness (once thought to be unmarketable here) and banned-for-decades religious symbolism. The Japanese seem to think of Christianity in aesthetic terms, which has never gone over well here:

Lastly, I have seen that comedy on TV is becoming increasingly weird and non sequitur, especially on Adult Swim. I think that Family Guy is the first mainstream show to have the type of weird humor that is common in Japan as well as Korea. As we know, anime has taken over kids shows; when I was young (wow, I feel old), it was impossible to get anime except for crappy dubs of Ranma 1/2 and Vampire Hunter D, Battle Angle Alita... now it is everywhere.

Thanks for this list. Though I will add that the casual nudity on TV in Japan has pretty much disappeared, except for some horrible reason the male buttocks. Can't say I'm a big fan.
