What the heck is in buddawiggi's profile pic?
I want a source. I want an artist.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Here's an interview with Brian so maybe you can get a better idea on where he's coming from as an artist.

Now, if you're asking what is happening in that picture, I'm not entirely sure. But anything that manages to combine robots and cephalopods is A-OK in my book.

M$Genius my friend. Pure genius.
Budda always has compelling avatars - interestingly, once called attention to, he often changes them (my guess is to keep us all guessing). I once wrote a comparison between the man and Hunter S. Thompson which was his avatar for quite some time. Shortly thereafter, the avatar was changed this intruging, and beautiful work of art.
I'm curious to see what the next one will be...
Here's my suggestions:

M$I found that painting by Brian Despain oddly enough while doing some research on American poet Ezra Pound. Odd connection I know but somehow in Google searches for images of Ezra Pound the artwork or Brian Despain came up and I was intrigued.
I would like to give my interpretation of the avatar.
The robot is me.. traveling through life
The Cephalopod or Octopus is Mahalo and the internet.. helping show me choices, offering guidance, and being my partner in my quest to be information-ally satisfied.
The Red Star Ball is my curiosity.. followed regardless of the direction the birds are flying.
The birds as well.. they are the direction of the group and my traveling in a direction different from them symbolizes my individualism and desire to satisfy my curiosity regardless of trend.
The windmill also.. it is a symbol of my desire to be like the group and despite my individualism actually want to fit in and be accepted. Allowing myself, when the wind blows interestingly, to draw energy from it and follow the "way the wind is blowing".
All of this must seem pretty odd but I thought I owed you guys an explanation for being curious about my motives in selecting my avatars.
Thanks for being interested. :) off I go.

Not a comment on this answer, but a comment on the question....

This is a question we have frequently asked ourselves with all the different pics he's used over time. :D
