The protests started in the city Talas and extended into capital.
Dozens of people are reported killed in the incidents.
The president Kurmanbek Bakiyev won the elections in 2005 with a majority but lost soon popularity because he didn't keep the promises. Apparently, the country struggles with large corruption and criminality.
Bakyev, reportedly, fled the captial, Bishkek.
The opposition leader Roza Otunbayeva replaced him
Kyrgyz is a Turkic language and together with Russian, the official languages of the country.
US maintains an airport located in Kyrgysztan (Manas Transit Center), so it has interest to be stability
