What steps will I need to follow when I get my new xbox360?
What all do I need to do in order to transfer from the 20gig pro to the new 120gig elite?
Are there any other suggestions people might have for my moving from one to another?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Red Ring Of Death (4 flashing red lights) is a 100% Warranty for as long as you have the Xbox.
If they cant fix it they send you a new one.
You wouldnt HAVE to transfer to the new hard drive (though I would suppose you would want to just because its bigger)
I would honest check Ebay for the transfer cable, http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=xbox+360+transfer+cable&_sacat=See-All-Categories.

I dont know if they are still running that but thats where you COULD get a free cable for buying an "elite" xbox.

M$Do you happen to know how one would go about getting a migration kit? While there is a lot of information in what you posted I can not find a way to obtain that key part...
It appears you can order the data migration kit from Microsoft Xbox support. Here's some information I found online: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/datamigration-termsandconditions.htm

Another question for you really quick... where have you heard that the RROD is 100% warranty for life of the Xbox? The longest time I can find is 3 years of warranty coverage.
It takes them about 2 weeks to receive fix and ship back your xbox, they give you a month free pass. You get 4 weeks for not playing 2 weeks..I am sure you could survive. He already bought his elite any ways.
"Why would you buy a new 360?"
I have a new 1080p TV that I want to connect the 360 to with HDMI, since the 1st Gen doesn't have this as an option the RROD gives me an excuse to buy a new system. I can still get the old one fixed after I deal with the transfer and I won't have to worry about losing any data.
I bought my xbox when they first came out, about a yr ago I got the rrod and I called and they fixed it for me. It was a malfuntion with how it was produced so they tried fixing it, didn't work sent it back again they couldn't fix it so they sent me a new one + 1 month of xbox live gold for each time I sent it in.
Well, if you really love XBOX Live you would want two systems. At one time I had two. I just swapped the hard drive and sent in the machine.
You shouldn't have any problems now that you have an Elite, but don't hold your breath.
You might also want to check with gamestop and see if they have any. Here is their store locator page and you can call each one to see if they have them if you can’t get it for free.

ahh ok, yah so yo ucan get it for free from that PDF file or you can buy it for a couple 100 off ebay. Also when you send in your xbox to get fixed, they dont ask for the hard drive, you keep that with you.
