What starting pitching rotation in the American League has been the most disappointing after the first 5 weeks of the season?

There have been both surprises and disappointments for a lot of American League teams early in the 2010 season. The Tampa Bay Rays have received some outstanding performances, while teams such as the Detroit Tigers staffs have been pretty much a disaster. When Dontrelle Willis with his 3.99 ERA leads a staff that includes Justin Verlander, 4.50 and Rick Porcello, 7.90 ERA, the outlook is bleak. In your opinion what staff has underperformed to expectations? In New York did they expect Vasquez to experience failure in his 2nd term with the Yanks?

I think the biggest disappointment in overall starting pitching performance in the American League in the early part of the season goes to the Los Angeles Angels. Only Jered Weaver is pitching very well. He has 4 wins, 59 strikeouts in 51 innings and an impressive 2.45 earned run average. Ervin Santana has been average with a 4.40 earned run average and 40 strikeouts in 47 innings, but has just one win in seven starts. Joel Piniero has likewise been just mediocre with a 4.50 earned run average and two victories in seven starts. The biggest disappointments have been Joe Saunders and Scott Kazmir. Saunders has just one win and five losses, has a poor 15 to 19 strikeout to walk ratio and has a hefty 6.19 earned run average in seven starts. Kazmir has an earned run average pushing 7 (6.82). The overall staff has been poor as well. The Angels have eight pitchers with an ERA over 6 and five with an ERA over 7. Their team ERA is second to last in the American League.
