about Oktoberfest
What songs should I request the bands to play at the New Orleans Oktoberfest (which starts tomorrow)?
The bands Prost! and the Dixie Hofkapelle will be playing. They play Germanic/American music. They usually play the same tunes every year throughout the 5 weekend celebration at the Deutsches Haus. Can you suggest any special requests?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Viva Colonia! The Oktoberfest hit forever!
Dj Ötzi songs, eg. Hey Baby and the like.
99 Luftballons by Nena.
Olaf Henning - Cowboy & Indianer
Those are my favorites, there are always some contemporary hits such as this year it was Jungle Drum when I was there, but I think the oldies are the real deal.

Those are interesting suggestions. The bands have never played anything anywhere near as modern as any of those. I wonder if anyone has published arrangements of those songs for traditional bands?
I went home and listened to some on utube. Viva Colonia sounds Irish. We have an Irish singer sometimes and I'll bring that to his attention, he might be able to do it. "99 Luftballons" and "Cowboy and Indianer" and DJ Otzi are rock and roll, I don't think they could be played by a traditional band even if anyone wanted them to try. Definitely hard to imagine those at our version of Oktoberfest.
