What songs should I add to my wedding playlist?
*While the "best answer" will get the tip, I'll also be handing out individual tips to those who provide me with good ideas
*No country please!

M$As far as upbeat songs that span generations there are a few oldies that stand out as always fun. "Shout" by the Isley Brothers is always a crowd pleaser; with that breakdown section...classic.
"The Twist" By Chubby Checker, and then "Twist and Shout" by the Beatles. It makes for a nice three song segue set.

M$I used to love "You Sexy Thing" (went through a bit of a disco phase during my high school years), and had totally forgotten about it.
Good call on the Blues Brothers song as well - never would have thought of that one, either!
And "Celebration," of course, is a wedding classic.
Thanks for the great suggestions!

Oh, my pleasure!!
It's been a while, and if I had my music list in front of me I could do more, but those are just the ones I remember EVERYone enjoying! They cross generational bridges and get everyone going.
You may want to throw in some Mambo No. 5 too - I remember people getting into that as well!

You mentioned that you want people to dance. I would consider some of the current hits from today. At some recent public functions, I was surprised to see all of the 40 and 50 year old professionals up and dancing to modern day hip hop songs! I know you mentioned classic-rock songs, but I think you may be surprised at how all generations like certain pop songs. I also think these songs are more likely to get people up on the dance floor!
A few must haves are:
Kanye West - Stronger

Kanye West - Touch The Sky ft. Lupe Fiasco
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF6gupack88

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuEX_NC5hEc
OutKast - Hey Ya! (A CLASSIC!)

Watcha Say - Jason Derulo

Love train - O'Jays (A fun song)

M$Thanks for the suggestions! I don't really listen to a lot of modern pop music, but you make a good point about throwing it in there. Hey-Ya was definitely one I though of, but forgot to write down, so I'm glad you reminded me, and some "Poker Face" may be in order too.
I'm adding these two upbeat (but not modern pop) songs because I think you and your guests will like them. They are quite fun and will get people moving:
The Lovin' Spoonful "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice"
JEFFERSON STARSHIP - Runaway
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNSygqogpls
Those two songs will get people up out of their seats and moving! I'm glad I could help. If you need any other suggestions let me know.

M$Weird..."What a Wonderful World" is actually on my consideration list for the father-daughter dance.
Thanks for the suggestions, but, as I mentioned in the question, I'm good for slow songs, and am mostly looking for suggestions for more upbeat tunes.
Wow.. Just thinking of "What a Wonderful World" as a father-daughter dance makes me want to cry! That would be beautiful!
The unfortunate thing is that my hubby-to-be pointed out that it reminds him of that scene from Bowling for Columbine.
Thank you @irishstephen1974 and @Kalane I am happy to see you like Walk of Life, it's been my favorite song since I was 12. :))) American Girl is a good one too. Hope your day is fantastic!
Oh MAN!!
Those are GREAT!! Good work girl!
Wow - thanks for the great list! There's a few on here I already had, but some that I hadn't thought of, including "Walk of Life" and "American Girl" that I'm sure will be hits with myself and my guests.
