What song do you hear that brings you back to your carefree days as a child or teen?

I would love to hear what song brings you back to the carefree days of when you were a child or teen! The song that reminds me of my childhood is "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce. My Dad used to play it over and over again and then he bought a microphone and used to sing in the microphone with the song. It reminds me of my Dad and of being young when not much mattered except when the next time you were going swimming was.

I usually don't think of my childhood as very 'carefree', but I did keep myself busy.
I was given a small framed guitar when I was 7, and learned almost every Cat Stevens song by the time I was 11.

Since I was a latch key kid, I would usually come home from school and practice the guitar until my Mom got home. I remember the song Wild World was one of my favorites, both to sing and to play. Cat Stevens had such an angelic and soft side to his music that pretty much any song of his brings back my childhood in wonderful stereo.

Wow! There are lots of songs that come to mind but I think one of the ones I would never forget is ‘’ I will survive’’ by Gloria Gaynor and written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris. The song was sung in the late seventies but in the nineties we still had it in my home because my mum liked it a lot.

I remember a day my brother wanted my mum to give him permission to sleep over at his friend’s place, when she refused. He went to the kitchen and came back with a cooking spoon and an apron, and the next thing we knew, he was singing, ‘’I will survive’’.It was a very funny sight and since he didn’t know the lyrics so well, it sounded like he was yelling. My mum laughed so much she had to let him go. Good old memories.

I love it! I posted another answer to another music question that had a video of her singing it much more recently...If you've never seen it, take a peek. She still had it.

Everytime I hear 'Bridge over Troubled water' by Simon and garfunkel I instantly think back to my childhood. My mother used to be obsessed with night time drives. And would always take me with her. It makes me remember just staring up at the stars through the glass while my mother sung along softly. I can listen to the song whenever I'm upset and it will instantly calm me down.

As a young man of elementary school age, my mother would turn the radio on at breakfast only if we had a lot of snow and were likely to hear an announcement that school had been canceled. For some reason, I remember hearing two songs while we were waiting for that joyous announcement (no school): "Those Were the Days", and "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" . Whenever I Hear those songs, or think about them, I think of getting a day off school. We might get to go out in the snow or ice skating, or stay in and playMonopoly, Mousetrap, or Life. maybe just read a book. Those really were the days. funny how apropos that title turned out. Turns out "Those Were the Days" is from 1968, one of Michigan's snowiest years (the land of my childhood).

Without a doubt, it's "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns n Roses. This song was the beginning of life for me.. Took me from from listening to AM radio on my walkman to a rotten little teen who thought she knew everything! It was the point when I really pulled away from my parents, and said, "I just have to be me!"

Funny thing is all these years later, I still love it get a little thrill anytime I listen to any of my favorite "hair bands" from then.. Skid Row, Poison, Aerosmith and LA Guns to Primus and The Presidents of the United States of America - and everything in between!

I love it! here's proof--a "bump" to kick off a block of songs on my streaming playlist.A re-creation of my original top-40 playlist from 1990 to 1993. Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Springsteen also in there.

The song that brings me back to my childhood days when life was easy and happy is Dancing Queen by ABBA. It was released back in 1976] when I was 10 years old.http://www.abba4therecord.com/singles_results.php I didn't listen to it too much back then but as I grew older, it became one of my favorite songs. It's a song that reminds me of the simpler times when I didn't have to worry about work and life in general. It's such a happy song that always puts a smile on my face whenever I hear it. The song makes me want to get up and dance which can be embarrassing depending on where I am at the moment! I also have been known to sing it at karaoke.

This baby was recorded circa 1982. I was 11. I grew up in New Jersey, listening to New York Radio stations. Even the then-top station in the country, Z-100, and it's competitor, WPLJ, were cranking this out a few times a day back to back with things like newcomer Madonna.

Carefree.. carefree.... *skips automatically to her marijuana-mushroom phase*.. also known as middle school. Yeah, I was mature for my age and had very bad taste in music, but I can think of two things mentioned in this answer that make bad music sound good. That being said don't hate me for posting this video...

barbie girl.... I totally owned that CD, it totally was one of the few CD's I actually owned at the time and while it makes me think of that carefree time period of indulgence, it also makes me hate myself just a littttttle bit. lol I still had the Cd up until a few months ago. I gave it to my younger sister for the sake of annoying my mother. (She's 8 years old.)
