Tip for best answer: M$1.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Try having some non-alcoholic bubbly to keep your holiday festive. See if your nearby grocery chain carries Martinelli's Sparkling apple cider. Its basically carbonated apple cider from Northern California, where some very special apple's grow. The Martinelli family (which stills owns this business) has been making apple cider in individual size bottles for decades, generations, I believe. During the holidays their Sparkling Cider is in all the stores where I live. I wouldn't dream of having a holiday get together without this.

P.S. Make sure you buy enough if you can find it. People love it and it disappears quickly.

P.P.S For a hot drink I always go with the mulled cider option described by another person in an earlier answer.

Try serving a delicious warm mulled soft apple cider; it's so easy and delicious. Apples actually contain an enzyme that mimics the effects of alcohol so it may satisfy your guests. Just fill a crock pot with apple cider and set to warm, and drop in some cinnamon sticks and let it brew. Or instead of cinnamon sticks, throw in some "Red Hots" or other little cinnamon candies. Some folks will add a bit of orange juice, too.

If alcohol has been part of a family's traditional holiday festivities, it will help if traditions that are associated with drinking are given less priority or even replaced with other family-friendly activities. Something active so that people don't have time to hold a drink in their hands, perhaps!

Alcohol has never been a part of my families holiday tradition. Not because of problems with it, just because my family prefers not to drink then. Most of my family does not drink anyways, and with children around, it had just been a choice for generations to not include alcohol in the menu.

We have always had pop, milk, coffee, tea, and ice water available and no one has ever complained about that. One of the newest additions to my family is a recovering alcoholic - sober 2 1/2 years. He was very suprised and impressed at our family tradition of no alcohol. He had great anxiety about the holidays, and we have laid that to rest for him with the absence of it for years and not just because of him.

Made from the actual grapes used to make wine but served fresh (not spoiled/fermented). All the nutrients and benefits with no alcohol. I've tried them and enjoyed them.

A wine steward friend of mine was quietly surprised by the freshness and full flavor of the grapes. He was able to confirm much about the actual grape and process due to his finely honed palate and experience. It was as much a treat sharing it with him as it was hearing his estimation of the juices. He was impressed.

While he noted that it's obviously not wine, anyone who loves the grape for what it truly is could develop quite a liking for the Draper Vineyard selections.

Happy Holidays!
