What social media websites should all bands and solo artists be a part of?

What would assist in the furthering of a musician's career?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Definitely these sites:

MySpace Music
Facebook (Make a fan page for your band)
Twitter (get lots of followers who love your music)
Flotones
Mercora Radio 2.0
MOG
Last.fm
ILike
JamNow
MusoCity
Sonific
Heystack
Midomi
iJigg
SellaBand
JukeBoxAlive
SoundFlavor
Virb....

There are tons of others. Definitley go for Facebook, Last.fm, and MySpace Music though. Those are a given. You can see an entire list of social networks here on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_networking_websites
They're broken down by category, but don't consider this a master list- new social network sites are being created everyday. :)

The single best social media website for any band or solo artist (whether established or not) to be a part of would be Facebook.

Facebook allows you to easily spread the word about up-and-coming releases, artist news, and any other info you wish to share and get out there. You can establish a fan base by people that “like” your page, and those fans can in turn advertise for you because their friends can see what they like; consider it free advertising.

Twitter would be a close second to Facebook, although Facebook is much more widespread than Twitter; Twitter also seems to work best for those that are already famous and have an established fan base. It never hurts to “get out there” as much as possible, so take advantage of any and all outlets possible!
