Jesus with a direct connect. Confucius and Buddha more alike, since they never claimed to speak directly to a higher being, but were meditative and self-realizing.
Of these four, only one claimed to be the son, which was a bit self-aggrandizing. All brought benefits and values to make each of us better people and make a connection to the world through one an other. All spoke of peace, respect and enlightenment in one way or another.
But as far as what they all have in common, they are all interlocutors or intermediaries between the almighty and the you.

Did Jesus actually claim to be the Son (over and above his claim that "All men are the sons of God"), or did He profess that living a certain way (the way He endeavored to emulate) was the way to God (to be Godly), and it was His followers over the course of some 300+/- years after His death who evolved His teachings to take on the meaning that He was the Son of God?
