What should we expect from Tim Tebow?

Tim Tebow was drafted 25th overall by the Denver Broncos. Will he play in 2010? He's a Heisman Trophy winner, a two-time BCS National Champion, and is the first college football player to score 20+ touchdowns rushing, and 20+ touchdowns passing. But there's still a ton of debate as to whether or not he can be a star. Will Tebow start a game for Denver during the 2010 season? Will he be the starter? There's a whole lot to discuss when it comes to Tebow. Let me know if you think he can pass, rush, play in the NFL, or if you think he's fail completely, be a backup used in short-yardage situations, or take a few years to emerge as a star.

Honestly I think Tim Tebow is one of the most overrated players in the history of the NCAA. Yes his numbers were eye popping, thanks in large part to playing in an offense that was absolutely geared to play to his strengths. People seem to forget that Andre Ware and David Klingler were both NCAA quarterbacks who put up huge numbers in college, and flamed out in the NFL.

I really think that Tebow is Chase Daniel with a better surrounding cast. Daniel put up some pretty impressive numbers with the Missouri Tigers and now is not even sniffing an NFL roster spot. The Broncos will go out of their way to try and keep from exposing him as the bust that he is, they’ll play him in the wildcat this year, and they’ll give him some carries as an H-back, but in the end it will become clear this guy is less of an NFL quarterback than Akili Smith. His popularity as a person is the only thing getting him drafted and NFL fans will quickly tire of him.

When it comes to Time Tebow you need to look past his college stats as well as understand that he was playing a system that was not a professional set. When quarterbacks come out of a spread offense, it sometimes takes years to adjust to what is required of an National Football League quarterback. An example is Drew Stanton of the Detroit Lions. He was in a little different situation than Tebow, because of having 4 different offensive coordinators in 4 years, but he is still learning the correct NFL techniques of his position. At times he shows what may be lurking inside, but still finds it hard to break away. Coach Jim Schwarz has indicated that they look at him as a three or four project. It may be the same with Tebow. He has the character, the skills, definitely the leadership ability, and maybe most important of all a work ethic second to none. What he is going to need is consistency. If he winds up in a situation similar to that of Stanton, expect the same results. I believe he has intangibles that will push him over the top and in time silence the majority if his critics. To reach stardom, he will need to correct his mechanics, whicih i think he will eventually succeed in doing.
