What should I do in Orange County, CA that isn't Disneyland or a mall?

I'm going to the Angels game on Sunday and am trying to decide what to do in Orange County afterwards. Maybe Seal Beach, Downtown Disney (is it super lame?), check out Chapman U? Any advice?

I did get the pleasure of visiting Orange County, California about 2 years ago. Laguna Beach was so very cool. The homes that wrap the beache are some of the biggest homes I have ever seen. Orange Country ended up being one of my favorite places. Not only for the beautiful beach, but for the activities that were available. Orange County offers several fun and exciting things to do. You can mountain bike, shopping, beaches, City sight seeing, theaters and many events. Walk the Golden Bridge and enjoy a quiet dinner. I found this site, http://www.go-california.com/Orange-County/Photos/ for proof of what an awesome time you can have. I got to see that big White house that you see perched on the beachfront. Gorgeous and Huge !!
If you are interested in visiting parks and site seeing the beaches here is another excellent source to turn to for planning your vacation. http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/sections/discoveroc/?refcd=OSGeneral01-google-TravelMay-DiscoverOC-orange_county_attractions. I found this site most interesting because it not only has a guide to outdoor activities in Orange County, but offers several other fun things to do like golf, tours of different cities in the surrounding areas and weekend getaways. What fun California can be when preplanned. Have Fun !!

Go north and see the Los Angeles Museum. There are almost always some great masters on loan from other museums. And see the La Brea Tar Pits. Very interesting.
Go south and see the San Diego Wildlife Refuge. Fascinating to see lions wandering around free. Take the train ride around the Refuge. If you have time, see the San Diego Zoo.
Don't forget to get over to Venice. Pretty girls and boys!

In the Orange County area, you can do

1. Whale Watching, At Newport Landing Whale Watching, which has year round whale watching so maybe you could see a whale.

2. Maybe see a play if you are there on one of the days that a play is going on at Orange County Performing Arts Center http://www.ocpac.org/home/default.aspx

3. Go to the Zoo! I love any Zoo. Orange County Zoo http://www.ocparks.com/oczoo/

4. I am sure you already plan on doing this. But go walk on the ocean. The ocean is so beautiful and you can spend how ever long you want walking on the ocean. Personally I think this is a must! Why go near the ocean if you are not going to even walk on it.

5. OH MY GOSH I JUST REMEMBERED!! Pirate’s Dinner Adventure, Oh my goodness this was so cool, http://www.piratesdinneradventure.com/california/buena_park/index.html they like put you on teams and you cheer for your pirate, it is fun lol. Well it was a few years ago that I went, but I am sure I would enjoy it at any age. You get to eat and watch a show.

6. Ripley’s “Believe It Or Not!” Museum, http://www.ripleysbuenapark.com/ this is in Buena Park. I actually think The Pirates dinner is also in that area.

Enjoy your visit. (^_^)V

You could always go to Knott's Berry Farm; I liked it way better than Disneyland. If you're a Southern California resident, you get a discount. Tickets are cheaper than Disneyland or Six Flags, at $52.99. They have tons of rides for everyone. Knott's has thrilling roller coasters, but also has relaxing rides for kids, too.

(If you're into those kinds of things - good luck!)

There are great farmers markets, local art galleries, crafts, fruit orchards!

Balboa Island is nice. They have some lovely coastal views in south county. On Thursdays the art galleries in Laguna Beach often have samples. and if you get off interstate 5 at the last exit before the San Diego county line ( Cristianitos Rd) you go west and drive along the beach it is nice, and if you do go to San Diego county get of at state route 78 and drive west and take coast highway because they also have some nice coastal views.
