What should be the steps for a startup from scratch, based on a service oriented model?

The steps can start from very beginning of concept building to putting down ideas and writing business profile, business plans, swot analysis etc...i need some best practices as the baby steps to a startup.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

When starting a business, you need to begin by deciding on a business structure. A sole proprietorship or partnership will give you more freedom, but leave you open to personal liability in court cases. If you form a corporation or limited liability corporation, you can protect your personal assets but pay much more in start-up fees and taxes. Many people go with a LLC so that they get a balance of asset protection against start-up costs and taxes.

Next, you need to create a business plan. It should contain basic information about the members and inner workings of the company as well as detailed statistics about your goals, your demographic and your competitors. Business plans also discuss what money is being invested and how the business plans to raise more capital if needed.

Business.gov and SBA.gov provide detailed information about starting any type of business. They also discuss taxes and licensing. USPTO.gov gives you information about obtaining a trademark or patent for your business. Copyright.gov explains how copyright works and tells you how to file.

Hi Ashasekayi,

thanks for posting your reply and yeah that's very helpful. What I am looking for is a service based startup and would be applying a B2B marketing strategy. So I would like to know more details in this regard.
