what should a real baby wear as baby Jesus for Christmas program?

Baby Jesus in the manager is suppose to be wrapped in swaddling. If the baby is a newborn, I suggest just using a plain white or blue swaddling blanket. Now, I understand that a larger baby won't sit still in swaddling.
For a larger baby or to wear under the swaddling, I would suggest a plain batiste gown. Nothing fancy or extra long. It's plain and simple. For warmth you can add a body suit on underneath.
