What settings would you use under Cedega/Wine under Linux to get Everquest II runing?

Using Ubuntu 8.10 with current versions of Cedega and Wine, have EQII loaded and the SoE patcher works, but stops when the EQ2 patcher is suppose to start. If people have it running under Codewevers Crossover games, as I may need to install it

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Just a quick note too.

I had some issues getting BOTF running do to shader problems as well.

What helped me actually was DOWNGRADING my version of wine to 0.95 , which helped immensely.

The way that every version of wine after 0.96 works with direcdraw has changed allot .

So the game might not be able to handle some of the vertex polling being done in the newer versions .

You might also try the very latest version of wine ( 1.1.10 ) (not to be confused with the latest stable 1.01 version) and see if that helps at all.

But try CommodorEGuff's suggestion first as it seems like the gold version of this fix works well from what i see in the winehq app database .

Good Luck
Kind Regards

It would seem that it works fine under Wine.

Just set the complex shaders setting to -1.

EQ and EQ2 are different games with different code bases.

According to the Codeweavers site, people are running EQII with limited to moderate success under CrossOver version 7.1.x. CrossOver Games is geared a bit more towards DirectX compatibility, and while I don't own EQ II, I am an advocate and beta tester for CrossOver products, and have had fairly good success with it in various situations, especially in the gaming end.
