Restaurants where there are lots of Catholics, such as here in New Orleans, do not offer sales on steak on Friday, which would be considered tasteless, so to speak. Rather, they offer seafood specials. The mental gymnastics needed to consider eating a New Orleans fried seafood platter a form of fasting are beyond me. However, that's what they do, and the seafood restaurants all get a boost on Fridays, especially during Lent.

I have seen the same thing here in New Hampshire. Many restaurants offer little in the way of steak or meat on Friday, especially during Lent.
Even if the restaurant does offer meat I have seen the chefs go out of there way to make sure the Friday specials are primarily seafood. Ditto on the fried seafood platter, that looks familiar to platters I have eaten and seen served here and there is no way do describe eating a New England seafood platter as fasting.
