What plants do well in hot weather?

I'm trying to xeriscape my lawn, so I was wondering which plants are good for my area of Florida? Is there a website that lists all of the plants, their growth habits and climate needs?

You can buy Variegated Weigela. Its features are:

Easy to grow
Drought and disease resistant
Adapts to many climates and conditions
Grows in sun and part shade
Low maintenance
Pretty blooms are the crowning glory of any Weigela. The blossoms of the Variegated Weigela are white to pale pink with a deep pink throat. This gives the overall look of the plant a tricolor effect when in full flower. This hardy landscape shrub will bring twice the delight to your yard with the beauty of flowers and the wonder of hummingbirds.

The attraction of this lovely deciduous shrub continues after the blooms are gone.
The foliage of the Variegated Weigela is almost as decorative as the flowers. Each leaf bears a striking light cream irregular border. You抣l have plenty to admire until the plant erupts in a blanket of pink again. To get the most abundant bloom power, you will want to plant these shrubs in full sun. They will do fine in part shade delivering a little less exuberant floral display.

A note to hot summer homeowners, some shade is better than full sun.
Variegated Weigela thrives in well-drained soil with good moisture retention. When deciding where you will plant this wonderful flowering bush, choose a spot that is free of competing plant roots. You find that it does just as well in urban environments as it will in the fresher air of a country property. This shrub has excellent pest and disease resistance that does need regular watering. For best vigor once established, plan on a good deep watering at least once a week and more often in periods of extreme heat.
