Hello Buckets!
The most current dietary plans indicate about half of the calories an individual ingests per day come from carbohydrates. In other words, if you eat 2000 calories, 250 grams should be carbohydrates.
It is important to keep track of the quantity of carbs in your diet. Some examples of good carbs to eat are fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread, cereal and pasta, nuts, and seeds. Foods that contain sugary carbohydrates such as pastries, candy, cookies, and soda should be avoided. Chips and processed foods are also unhealthy. These foods have excessive calories and minor nutritional value. Beware of foods with saturated fat and trans-fats. Both are terrible for your heart health.
You can find the amount of carbohydrates in the nutrition facts on food labels. Here is a link with tips on how to keep track of the carbohydrates in your diet http://nutrition.about.com/od/askyournutritionist/f/howmanycarbs.htm.
