What percentage of Mexico's population speaks Nahuatl?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The population of Mexico is estimated to be 109 million, and approximately 1.5 million people there speak Nahuatl.
So, approximately 1.3% of Mexico's population speaks Nahuatl.

Typo there... It's not "multiply the result by 20." It should be "multiply the result by 100."
Thanks jfesmire. I'm about to select your answer as the best since I doubt more people will feel it needs to be answered (since it wasn't an open-ended or interpretive question to begin with), but would you mind giving me the math behind it? I'm not really a math person and I would like to include this on my Mexico page discussion board.
Sure thing, and I apologize for the delay.
Figuring out a percentage is deceptively easy. Here, we have a population of 109 million total, with 1.5 million of those speaking Nahuatl.
All you have to do is divide 1.5 million by 109 million, then multiply the result by 20. We can make them just 1.5 and 109, since both are in millions. The formula would then be:
(1.5 รท 109) * 100 = x
0.0138 * 100 = x
1.38 = x
So, I should have actually rounded up and said that it's approximately 1.4 percent rather than 1.3! But there you have the math. :)
Thank you so much. I clicked a little too quickly on select as the best answer, so I wasn't able to leave a comment on it. :)
