What part of the body does a mycologist study?

M$So, to answer your question, a mycologist's primary, but not exclusive, focus is the skin (the largest organ of the body), and hair and nails, which are formed by keratinized (hardened) skin tissue. Characterized as mycoses, the attendant fungal conditions are classified by the tissue levels where the infections begin, from superficial mycoses, which originate in the outermost layers of skin and hair, to opportunistic mycoses, which originate in the lungs and which include Candidiasis.
While I've included the link to Wikipedia's article on mycosis, a simple search using the search term, "mycosis", will yield many useful results to assist you in your inquiry.

M$Please consider, when voting, that my answer said that "a mycologist's primary, but not exclusive, focus is the skin (the largest organ of the body), and hair and nails, which are formed by keratinized (hardened) skin tissue." While it is true that fungal infections occur throughout the body, dermatology (study of skin tissue) is still the primary discipline involved in mycology, because the skin is the main barrier that fungi must overcome to invade the rest of the body. Even the video of the other main answer features skin mycoses. Moreover, the video was created by a dermatologist.
"Even though all medical disciplines and related professions are nowadays interested in medical mycology, the historical approach reveals that dermatology is -- and always has been -- the pacemaker for this specific branch of research."
