Well, I think it would be a tight race between bread (French bread), chocolate, and pasta dishes. I grew up in Germany with crunchy, honey-colored bread with a soft center, freshly baked at a local bakery only minutes prior to purchase. Once you walk past a bakery, you will never forget the aroma in the air and you are automatically drawn in the direction of the freshly baked goods. I also grew up with chocolate characterized by its sweet but light taste, available in rectangular bars and much different from the Twix, Snickers, and Milky Ways that rule here in the United States. I remember one particular type of chocolate, called Kinder Schokolade, which is filled with a milky white cream and the outside is of a light milk chocolate. This must have been my all-time favorite. Holidays were the best, because all the awesome chocolates were now made into Santas, Easter bunnies, or eggs. In Germany, there are also a number of great, authentic Italian restaurants everywhere, since our immigration laws allow for a great diversity of cultures to enter the country and remain there to become established. The different pasta dishes available were my favorite, and to this day I try very hard to imitate many of the dishes I used to order in the Italian-style restaurants many years ago. These are three items I don’t think I could give up, unless there were a serious chronic illness involved that could compromise my health if I did not stop consuming these types of food.

I find it difficult to select just one food that I would not give up. I suppose if it comes down to one it would have to be chocolate.

I realize that I could not survive on chocolate alone, but I can easily see myself giving up any other food, even my nutritious favorites, before giving up chocolate.

I think it would be nachos. I have to have my nacho fix at the very least once a month. I could obviously live without them but it wouldn't be as pleasant. :)

Salad, Salad, Salad! Just love salad! It's not just the delicious crispness of fresh salad, it's the challenge to create beautiful varieties. So many tasty types of greens (romaine, leaf, raddichio, etc.) to pair with so many fresh additions (cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, etc.). Just love the spring mix and spinach salads that can be purchased in the produce sections of the supermarkets.

Vegetable or Fruit salads - love them ALL! It's amazing that these scrumptious salads are actually good for you! Salads can be a meal in creation. Just can't live without them.

Rice and noodles. Rice and noodles are the main staples of Asian people. For some people, a meal isn't a meal unless you eat some rice or noodles. Stricter people, including my mom, even consider that only meals with rice count.

Although I'm not a rice purist, but I've eaten rice all of my life. I can't stay full or satisfied for long unless I eat some rice. At least a day I have to eat rice once. Rice is also very cheap and versatile so you can have rice with almost everything.
