What notable event from January 14th is missing from this "Today in History" page?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

January 14, 1932 Eddie Arcaro won his 1st race. (Arcaro lost two hundred and fifty races before he won his first race. He went on. in 1938, to capture his first Kentucky Derby win. Then in 1941, ten years after he had been told he would never become a jockey, he accomplished what only four jockeys had managed before him: he captured the U.S. Triple Crown with his winning rides on Whirlaway in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes. History repeated itself in 1948, when Arcaro won the U.S. Triple Crown while riding Citation. Arcaro is the only jockey to have ever accomplished that feat. During his thirty-one year racing career, Arcaro rode in 24,092 races, accumulated 4,779 victories, placed in the top three 11,888 times, and had a record 554 stakes victories. Arcaro’s skill earned him the nickname “The Master” and an induction into racing’s Hall of Fame in 1958, three years before he retired from the sport. Um, I think the fact that the Revolutionary War ended on January 14, 1784 is also important.
The Treaty of Paris of was signed on September 3, 1783 and ratified by the U.S. Congress on January 14, 1784. The document formally ended the American Revolutionary War between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the United States of America.
I'd link a video or picture...but unfortunately there just weren't any at the time!! So here's a photo of the Treaty of Paris :

M$These are important events!
Far more important than:
1539 - Spain annexes Cuba.
1724 - King Philip V of Spain abdicates the throne.
or even
1943 - Franklin D. Roosevelt becomes the first President of the United States to travel via airplane
LOL
What about the premier of Bionic Woman in 1976??
1984 Madonna 1st sings "Holiday" on American Bandstand
1979 President Carter proposes Martin Luther King's birthday be a holiday

Yes videos from the 18th century are few and far between, sometimes in YouTube you can find more recent videos that document the events, but the photo is nice. thanks!
