What newer Wii games are fun and good for smaller children?

My son is 6 and the past 3 Wii games I have gotten him, well he doesn't like them at all. I am buying video games that look to be for smaller children, but I honestly don't know much about them. What does the kids like?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

My daughter and I really enjoy the Lego-series games, though she usually has Daddy do the "tricky" parts. Depending on your taste for cartoon violence, these games will probably be family-friendly enough and recognizable to your son for both of you to enjoy:
  • Lego Star Wars
  • Lego Batman
  • Lego Indiana Jones
If you want games with no violence at all, you can try these titles, which we also enjoyed together:
  • Animal Crossing Series (May be boring for the more action-oriented kids)
  • Super Monkey Ball (May be tough for less-coordinated little ones)
  • Elebits (You'll need to play this together, as the puzzles are tricky)
  • Pikmin 1 & 2 (My daughter and wife ADORE these games, though Pikmin 1 is for the Gamecube, which will work in your Wii, but you will need a Gamecube controller to play it)
I would definitely recommend signing up for Game Fly, which is basically the Netflix of video games. You can have 1-2 games out at a time, and they have a very large library of Wii titles. This allows you to try games out, and if your son doesn't like them, you mail them back and try something else. If he does like it, you can decide to keep the game for a reasonable price, and then get another game in the mail in a couple days. It's a great system for kids that won't break your pocketbook!
