What mythological creatures originated in the US?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$The first is pretty obvious: Sasquatch or Big Foot.
The second is a bit more subtle: Wendigo. Wendigo is an Algonquin myth about men who would eat the flesh of other men and become powerful because of it. The concept of a Wendigo was borrowed by Marvel Comics as a villian who commonly fights Wolverine or the Hulk. This myth was also used as a major plot device in the movie Ravenous.
One last thought about mythological creatures... depending on how you look at it, you might call those big headed big eyed aliens "from" Area 51 a US creation... though fairly new, it's really taken a place in pop culture.
