What musical instrument do you play, and why did you choose that instrument?

Did you learn to play as a child?

I started taking lessons for piano when I was in grade school from a neighbor lady. I took lessons well into high school and at that time I was taking lessons from a college professor. I really enjoyed it when I was younger and my parents had bought me my own new piano and I was so proud. I also learned to play the organ at church. When I got into high school, I was more interested in boys than playing piano so I begged my parents to let me quit. Thank goodness, after about 6 months, they let me quit. I think the worse part of it was when my parents sold my piano and they moved it out. I really don't miss it that much anymore. :-)

When in Elementary School I started with the trumphet but was inquisitive and had to see how it worked. I coundln't get it back together and turned it in the next day and took up the drums. By the time I got to Jr. HS I took guitar lessons and learned to play a little. The girl down the block taught me a little piano, very little. I play the harmonica because it was something I could practice anywhere when bored and I liked the blues and rock. I always had one around but never really took the time with it. Then I just got a book on it and started to play and have stuck with it but not religiously. I know music so I just taught myself by the book and putzing around.

I don't play any instrument, but I sing, which when you do it with lessons and the like takes just as much effort as playing an instrument. No, really, it does -- there's training involved, memorization, learning music, muscle memory, all of these things. I've taken lessons since middle school, even though I've had to stop recently, and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Why did I choose it? I'm too clumsy to play a physical instrument. Well, that's not the entire reason, but it's a large part of it. Plus, I'm not meaning to brag, but I do have some vocal talent. And I love to sing. So there you go -- plenty of justification.

I took guitar lessons, like millions of other people, after the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. I stuck with it. I chose it because I wanted to be like the Beatles. Then, years later, I also took piano lessons. I used to be in Rock bands, but stopped that when I started college and then got into recording. Now I have a recording studio as a sideline.

Music is the universal language.

Unless it's Rap or Hip-Hop,

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I started with the clarinet when I was in the 5th grade. i think I chose it because I wanted to be in the parades and it looked like the clarinet would be simple. From there, I learned the flute, clarinet, piano and the saxaphone. I would like to learn the drums but I haven't yet
