What movies that have been released in the past two years are truly unique?
I haven't been to the movies in a while now, just because I feel that nothing of value ever comes out. The themes and plot lines always seem like their borrowed from other films, the character development is weak if even at all present, and I never leave feeling anything profound. Yes, movies are for entertainment, but I don't believe this should be mindless entertainment. Have there been any movies in 2010 or 2009 that have moved you or made you really think? Were they unique? Which ones? Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

I am not sure what year Memento by Christopher Nolan was released but I think it is one of the movies which will make you think. A number of Denzel Washington movies are also good, not to deep but at least they make you think compared with just watching. Avatar is a bit shallow but it a unique movie, using non-human characters but sending a message to humans to respect nature. Lastly, the animation Up, is a different kind of animation that makes the viewer in a the perspective of how old people live their last remaining years of their lives.
