What movie has been developed following the plot from a video game? Except Prince of Persia.

Today’s video games are usually developed after different movies. Some examples are: Clash of the Titans, Avatar, Shrek Forever After. The list continues…however; I was wondering if there is any movie (except Prince of Persia) released or under development, following the plot (storyline) of a video game. Obviously, some of the video games available today have storylines more interesting than books. I’m really interested to see such a movie. Is Prince of Persia the only one?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There's actually alot. I'll give you a little info if i've seen them.

Super Mario Brothers: I saw this when i was very very young and don't remember much of it, but i know i liked it then; but if i were to see it now im not sure if I would think the same.

Street Figher: Again, saw it when i was just a kid.

Final Fantasy Advent Children: I am a hardcore final fantasy fan; and I absolutely loved this movie.

Street Fighter The legend of Chun-Li((FEB 25 2009))

Street Fighter((DEC 23 1994))

Mortal Combat 1 & 2 ((Saw both of these; first one kicked ass, second one not so much. July 13 1995 and NOV. 21 1997))

Tomb Raider 1& 2((saw both of these too, eh they were both alright. nothing too magnificent July 11 2001 and july 21 2003))

Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 and soon to b 4(( I thought these were all pretty kickass. Lead actress is really hot lol 2002, 2004, 2007 and i think the new one is scheduled to come out next year))

Doom ((horrible movie :( 2005))

BloodRayne 1 & 2 (also horrible movie for such kick ass games 2005 BUT there is another one coming out this year. Maybe it will be better.))

Silent Hill ((movie just as abstract and crazy as the game 2006))

Hitman ((I must admit I watched this mostly because of Timothy Olyphant lol but it was still good 2007))

Max Payne ((this was a really good movie with kick ass effects 2008)

and Kane and Lynch is coming in 2011

The director Uwe Boll is well known for making movies based off video games. Unfortunately he also has a reputation for making really bad adaptations.

From Wikipedia:
"Boll is best-known for adapting video games into movies, having directed and produced a number of such adaptations, including House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Alone in the Dark II, BloodRayne, BloodRayne II: Deliverance,4 In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, Postal and most recently Far Cry. Boll intends to produce a third movie based on the BloodRayne franchise.5 Boll also made a bid to direct the upcoming Warcraft movie, but was turned away by the owners of the Warcraft franchise, Blizzard Entertainment.6"

I dunno... there are a lot based on video games, but ones that actually follow the plot? Rare.
This is actually my biggest problem with video game movies - Silent Hill disgusted me because when it went into production, there were three Silent Hill games out, all of which had fantastic plots, and instead, they write this whole new one, throw a bunch of images from the game at you, and then rain blood on a dancing little girl. None of it had a darn thing to do with the Silent Hill games.

The Tomb Raider movies (the first one, at least) were a rare example of going off the plot of the games and staying true to the game series.

And don't get me started on Super Mario Brothers... I want to slap Bob Hoskins for dignifying that movie with his presence.
