I will always support my children over others - I love them unconditionally
I will always support my partner - I know this is reciprecated, its loyality I guess, and love

I do not think it was an obsession. When the relationship was no longer working and we we're just falling apart, heading somewhere bad. We both ended it. Though that connection does keep me from deleting the number from the cell and de-friending the person on my Facebook.
